Using data for Internet in France

I'm looking for some advice. I'm off on holiday with family next month and the Internet connection at the cottage we are at is unpredictable according to reviews. To combat this I was considering some form of data sim to use and a mi-fi device from 3 to use the feel at home thing they do.

Anyone got any experience with this or any other suggestions? All help is welcomed :)

Live without it for a while?
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

3 Mifi sounds your best idea (Subject to coverage) but my (French) internet connection (on it now) has no issues unless there is a massive storm that can knock it out for a day - or two, but that usually knocks out the mobile signal as well.

Cheaper to obtain the MiFi and SIM separately.

How much surfing are you planning to do on holiday? Would it not be cheaper to get a roaming data pack added to your phone sim and tether/hotspot to that, depending on what network you're with obviously? But no need to buy a separate mi-fi gadget.

Does Feel At Home work with mifi plans?

It doesn't allow tethering from a smartphone, even if the plan normally includes tethering.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

    Yes...with Mobile Broadband SIM.

You can enjoy Feel At Home whether you’re on Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go, using a tablet, phone, Mobile Wi-Fi or dongle
You should be able to stream and connect to VPNs, but you'll find it’s slower and the quality won't be as good as it is in the UK. For example, we don’t recommend streaming TV programmes and films. If you’re connecting more than one device to Mobile Wi-Fi, your streaming experience will be even poorer.
