Would you be happy with 10's of 1000's of £ sat in your ex's bank account earning his bank interest when you can't get anyone to lend you the same so you can have it all in your own pot?

Still I suppose I brought it all on myself deciding to end an abusive relationship and go it alone but hey its only money.

A competent broker may be able to suggest options for sourcing the lending providing you with the outcome you want.0 -

Hi Op. Just wanted to say that this is an open forum so when you but a question on here any comments you get are people just offering their advice. You may not agree with their points of view but it is their opinion and just like you they are entitled to it.
I can see reading the posts back that you have a tendency to jump on anyone. One member expressing that they where worried that they would offend you.
OP bottom line you have split from your husband - sorry hope all is well.
You are now earning more and can afford the mortgage but have bad credit score.
House is needs work and you are struggling to sell.
OP sorry but this is not a case of big brother or a conspiracy against you instead this is just a case of the bank or building society looking at your credit score ( which you defaulted on) and deciding that you are a high risk.
TBH if I was a bank I would want to know that anyone I was giving money to had a history of giving it back. Being 100% honest if it was your money you where giving out wouldn't you?

I don't think you understand mortgages and banking in general:
1) The bank provided a mortgage to you and your ex based on your joint financial profile at the time.
2) It is neither the bank's fault, nor do they care that you have split with your ex and want to exit the joint commitments you entered into
3) You are now asking the bank to consider lending to a single personal who is currently on a DMP and with a record of defaults. The vast majority of bank's will regard this as a non-starter from a policy perspective regardless of any deposit.
4) The bank are not earning ££££ in interest on your ex's deposit. In fact the way things are with historically low rates in the inter-bank market, they are probably barely washing their face.
5) The house has not sold in the last 2 years.....because the price is too high. Stick in an auction next week with no reserve and I guarantee you it will sell for the market price.
6) Brokers have very useful role to play in obtaining mortgages for people who are in unusual situations.......like you! Given that using a broker was probably your only possible option, it is perhaps unwise to be so vitriolic (are you mistaking brokers for estate agents?)0
