Balance Transfers

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could help me?

I have 2 Barclaycard accounts, one with £12,000 limit & one with £5,000. The £12,000 limit one, has £4400 owed on it, whilst the other is clear.

Barclays are offering a great balance transfer rate at the moment, however, you cannot transfer the balance from one Barclays to another.

My credit score, according to Noodle is 1/5. Even though I don't miss payments on accounts. So I'm a bit stuck as to what I can do in order to get another card that I can transfer my balance to from one Barclays & then back to the other Barclays?

Anyone able to lend any advice?

Thanks.

Your noddle score of 1 is meaningless. Check your credit history with all three CRAs & see if there are any defaults/CCJs etc that would stop you getting another BT card. It's your history that's important.
Also the ratio of credit to earnings will affect any applications & are you on the electoral roll with all 3?

  • I did have quite a poor history when I was 18/19. Late payments all the while but I'm 25 (just turned) now. So that could still be having an affect.

I'm on the electoral roll. I've tried signing up to the other two CRAs but I've used them before, so will need to pay to join them.

Luckily for now, I've found that Barclays also offer 0% for 12 months on transfers to current accounts. So i'll take that offer up, pay off my CC & have 0% free interest until July 2016. Hopefully, it'll have all been paid off by then!

Glad you got sorted! You don't have to join experian & Equifax - just order the £2 statutory report. It's good to keep an eye on them anyway & make sure everything is recorded correctly.
