PPI claim on a loan that was defaulted and payed off in full

I was just wondering really i took a loan out few years back now approx 4-5 i think
i defaulted on it about 2 years into the loan i still kept payments on it each month very low for a 2 years i then payed it off in full nearly 9k in jan this year
now my question is simple really how do i know if ppi was in the loan ? and can i claim it back ?
any help be great
