Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama produced some of the greatest soul recordings of all time and Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham were two of its most prolific writers and musicians. Between them they created hits for Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Percy Sledge, Otis Redding and many more. Dan Penn’s At the Dark End of the Street is rightly regarded as a classic of the era.
