SCAM? : First Response

A little while ago I received a very unprofessionally written letter from a company called First Response 'take care of your finance', a company I have never heard of.
They misspelt my surname and omitted the date from the document.
Below is what was written....
Ref: Security Alert - Stolen Data
As a result of a break-in at our offices, equipment containing customer data held electronically was stolen. This included bank card details both current and previous customers. Whilst it would take a very sophisticated level of equipment and knowledge to access the data, as a precaution and to ensure we take every available action to protect our customers' interests, we have alerted affected customers' banks directly and we are writing to advise you also to contact your bank personally to make them aware.
(which bank??? I have 2 and they don't state any bank account numbers)
If you made an application for finance and did not actually take out a loan, the data we hold is limited to personal details taken at the time of application.
I apologise for any incinvenience that this may cause you and stress that the risk appears minimal. If you do notice any unusual transactions on your accounts contact your bank or card provider immediately. If you receive unexpected offers of finance or credit then please call us on the number below. Please be assured that we are co-operating fully with the Police in their investigations.
If you have any questions in regards to this letter, we have placed a more detailed explanation, along with answers to those most common questions, on our website at www.firstresponsesecurity.co.uk/security-alert , and we will update this as appropriate.
We are unlikely, in the short term, to be able to provide much more information than is available in this letter on the website. However if you wish to contact us then please email SecurityAlert@frfl.co.uk with your question or ring us on 01159 466 400 (8.00 am Monday to Friday).
Our phone lines may be very busy over the next few days so we ask you to be patient. Don't forget you can copntact us via e-mail or visit our website, as above, prior to calling the above number.
Yours sincerely
Don Brough
Chief Executive
I've been a bit lax in checking this out but I'll check out their website.
Has anyone else received a letter like this?

My OH's parents had this letter, they had applied for finance on a car but eventually decided not to buy it.
Their details must have been stolen as since the letter they have has their account used fraudulently, which the bank is now dealing with. Thanks to receiving this letter they were more alert in checking their account balance and statements regularly and spotted it rather quickly.0 -
Yeah this was a genuine letter, I was a customer and I received the letter, I'm also trying to reclim my ppi from them just now too. Thanks to all the competition posters.0
