Advice Needed - Buy Dyson DC14 or DC15?

Hi Guys - hope this is in the right forum - apologies if not.
My trusty old Dyson DC03 vacuum cleaner has finally given up the ghost - so I'm in the market for a replacement.
I'm impressed by Dyson, so want to stick with that brand and have nailed my choice down to the DC14 animal or the DC15 animal (the ball). I have found a price of around £230 for the dc14 and £270 for the dc15 so was just going to put my hand in my pocket for the latest model (the DC15, rrp £359).
BUT I found something that has made me question my choice - and that is the fact that the DC15 has only 220 air watts of power as opposed to the 270 air watts of the DC14. Doesnt that just mean that the DC14 is better at 'sucking' than the newer model? Am I really going to spend the extra money for a ball and less performance? Or have I got it all wrong and should be looking at some other measure too?
Please help!
Whatever I get is going to be better than the 90 air watts of the dc03 that I'm replacing, but I hate to spend money on the latest stuff, if it's worse than prevous models!
Cheers in advance!
