Halifax Clarity activation?

Hi,
Few days ago I've got my halifax Clarity.
I tried to enable but as I had no activation number, I played around a bit
and at some point I was told the card was enabled.
I wasn't sure so I asked for a new activation number. Once I received I tried to enable it
but the website was telling me that the card is already enabled.
Never mind I thought, until today when I tried to use the card online to do a pay as you go
top-up on a Italian card (I'll be there in a couple of days), but every time it refuses the halifax card.
I wonder if anyone had the same problems or if I should ring Halifax (which to be honest annoys me a lot).
Thanks

What's 'activation number'?
Can you not just try it in an ATM or a UK shop?
Foreign mobile companies often don't like UK cards, especially for topups.0 -
I got a halifax clarity card the other day and didnt require any code. I went to https://www.halifax.co.uk/activation and when prompted signed into my online banking and activated online with no issues.0

The activation number is what supposedly should be necessary to activate the card (as per Halifax instructions).
I'll try indeed to see if it works on a UK site.
