Virgin Media Box In Cupboard

I've finally gotten the TV in the upstairs bedroom wall mounted. There's a cupboard behind it so I've been able to hide all the cables.
What I'm wondering is: rather than put a shelf up for our Virgin box, is there anything we can buy that will still allow us to operate the box in the cupboard but change the channel?
