seeing as the laws are different in Scotland, you would have thought those fools at DRP would know this by now

Perhaps they do know , but are relying on their threat of (non-existent) court action to frighten the motorist into paying up.

We had the same issue - no Blue Badge spaces so had to park on a DYL to get the wheelchair into the Outptients Dept - the BB was prominently displayed. Still got a ticket - and thy can go and swivel for their money - although the DYL has no legal standing on private property, the idiots forget the text on their 'tickets' are only relevant outside Scotland, further, their follow up letters (regarding POPLA appeals) are also nonsensical - POPLA has no jurisdiction here either.

Hopefully you rode out the begging letters and its now all quiet?

You have this misinformation in writing from them? If yes then Trading Standards (Scottish version) may be very interested ... CEL are being prosecuted in Aberdeen for the same/very similar thing.

I do indeed, and building it all up into a file as I don't wish to have them say it was only the first letter(s) and car sticker that was wrong and they 'had no intention to mislead'.

I do not have much faith in TS however, as they are council-run, they have no budgets for wide-ranging speculative pursuits, however if enough complaint, it may tip the balance (in this case it is Glasgow Trading Standards - 0141 287 1061)... but I would hope most Scottish motorists would treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Do you have a link to CEL's issue in Aberdeen as this may be useful to quote?

Here's a starting point, but there have been one or two threads on here (search on 'Aberdeen' or 'Perth' might be fruitful).

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
