TSB credit card gone

So when I sign into my TSB account online, the credit card account is gone.

The card is also being declined.

Is it normal for credit card accounts to suddenly be closed without notice?

I had no money on it but have only had it for four months.

I will ring TSB but I wondered first is this a normal thing to happen?

Its been gone for over a week and no letter from them.

    You need to contact them.
Are your bank accounts with them operating normally?

Were you in arrears on the card or had you used it in last 12 months?

It might be if the card had not been used for some time it would be closed.
Any correspondence in your internet banking inbox?

    Hi,

Yes my other TSB accounts are fine, The account was at nill, no arrears, I have never had arrears with any bank.

I used it about eight weeks ago to buy a tv but paid it off within weeks.

They have sent me nothing in the in box.

I'm a bit bemused, if the problem started a week ago and your card started getting declined, why didn't you call them 6 days 23 hours 58 minutes ago to ask why?
I'm sure they'll be able to tell you quickly enough.

    I hardly use the thing.

I noticed it was missing from my account login about a week ago, but I assumed it would come back at some point.

I then tried the card today and it was declined.

As I said I will ring them but I wondered if this was a common thing.

Sounds like the card was compromised in some way. In time they'll set up a new card with a new number which will then appear when you log in. But you should call them.

This has happened a couple of times to me, though not with TSB. What is most annoying is that you can lose the statement history. For this reason I always save my statements out as PDFs.

Do let us know what they say!

I've had 2 or 3 cards stopped in the past where the providers thought there was a risk it had been compromised (again not TSB)

On all occassions the card provider has attempted to contact me immediately by telephone to advise the account has been suspended and why. They also send written notification with details of what to expect next and when. I think I always got a new card within about 10 days.

(I'm led to believe they may not provide any advice if they think you were directly involved in the compromisation of the card.)

The only card I had that was affected that I also have online account management set up for was with MBNA. So whilst the new card had a brand new long card number on it, the underlying MBNA account number remained the same and I don't remember losing any access to my online account history.

Interesting ... please let us know what has happened OP :)

Edit: What I would say though is that I have had at least 1 letter that I know of that TSB claim to have sent me that never arrived.
I think they still use India for much of their customer service functions and strongly suspect that has something to do with it. :(

I rang them, someone tried to use the card in India for £5, and the bank stopped the card.

How did they do this, I mean have a copy of the card someone to use it in India? I hardly use the card, only to buy that TV and a couple of times to buy lunch.

They say a new one was sent out, I should get it soon.

    No transactions were authroised.
