Sky/TV Aerial/New Build

I recently moved into a Redrow new build property where the house has TV points throughout with a media plate installed in Living Room but no aerial. I have also recently had Sky + installed and the sky installer agreed to connect the wires if i went into the loft.
I was looking at arranging for an aerial installation so the TV point works in the master bedroom but was told by someone that i might be able to connect the aerial cable left in loft for bedroom to the sky cable in loft so i can watch sky in bedroom using a magic eye.
Does anyone know if this is possible or do i need an aerial? I dont think i have a power supply in loft if that makes a difference?

It absolutely is, yes, and it's a system I use, although I do have a dish and aerial.
You need 2 cables from dish (through loft I guess) to Sky (watch/record or record/record).
You would need a cable going from aerial to RF IN on Sky, but you're removing that.
You then have another cable going from Sky RF OUT 2 (you need to switch this on in the engineer's menu on the Sky box) up to the loft.
That cable goes from loft into your bedroom. You could also add in an amplifier here if you wanted to, to distribute sky to other rooms.
You then need to tune your TV's analogue tuner to the Sky box.0 -
Am i right in saying then that i connect sky box using RF OUT 2 to the installed aerial point in living room using a cable and connect an cable from aerial point in bedroom to the the TV.
How do i connect the aerials in the loft though as they are coil of cables? Is this done using the amplifier or am i best asking an aerial man to do this?
Thanks0 -
Yes, in your special circumstances, where there is no aerial involved, connect RF OUT 2 from the Sky box into the aerial point. Remember there's nothing coming out of RF Out 2 until you enable it in the engineer's menu on the Sky box. Then you can also connect the TV in the bedroom to the aerial point.
Connecting in the loft - as long as you can identify both cables, you will be fine without an amplifier, if you're only connecting 1 TV. Buy either an F - connector for each cable and a joiner (coupler), or 2 RF plugs (Belling Lee apparently!) and a connector like either of these for an example.
If you can wire a plug, you should be fine with these, although stripping the braiding and insulation can be a bit awkward:

That site has stacks of great info BTW...0 -
Hmm, MSE seems to be blocking the sat cure .co.uk website - remove the spaces from that to work out the links...0

Sky boxes need 2 working RF inputs to record whist watch another channel.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Thanks for all your help - will give that a try.0

zaax has got the wrong end of the stick. Sky needs 2 SATELLITE inputs so that you can watch/record 2 channels at once, yes. But we're talking about OUTPUTTING the Sky box's picture to a second TV.0
