OP, nobody seems to have asked, but do you use the laptop on a soft surface (lap, carpet, bed, etc) ?

Most PCs and Laptops these days, tend to keep the USB ports powered up for charging mobile devices/iPods/etc.
I use the laptop on the table that has a soft-ish vinyl table cloth on. I have lost the 2 black rubber feet for the laptop so I guess it's hanging low. I guess that could add to the heat.

Yes, it will...it would be a good idea to get some rubber sheet or similar and make a couple of new ones and glue them on, it does make a difference
