i have received an email from sky offering fibre free for 12 months with a 25gb download limit.
i tried calling sky to get more details but the operator i got after hanging on for ages was hopeless.
i am at present on their normal 'unlimited' broadband so wonder whether 25gb will be enough. does downloading from their own catch up stations count towards your usage as an HD movie can be 5gb?
is there anyway i can find out my total usage over the last 12 months to gauge whether 25gb will be sufficient?
many thanks.

According to this, then it is part of your limit - http://help.sky.com/articles/your-sky-fibre-questions-answeredCan I use Sky Fibre to watch Catch Up TV?
You can enjoy Catch Up TV with Sky Fibre. Bear in mind, though, that anything you download will count toward your usage allowance for that billing period.
A 25 Gig/month on a fibre connection is a bit pointless. You could easily get through that in a few hours.
If you are a Windows 7/8 user, and you wish to download the free update to Windows 10, that's 3 Gig gone.
The better offer from Sky seems to be the Fibre Unlimited for £10/month for 12 months. But there is conflicting information on their website as to whether this is a 12 month minimum contract, or 18 (in which case you are forced to pay £20/month for the last 6 months).0 -
Unless you get unlimted on fibre, it is a bit pointless.
I am on sky normal broadband as well, getting a good 17Mbs to 22Mbs and unlimited, so can watch everything on the fly or download.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
All depends on your personal useage.
Not with Sky Fibre but have the same product from another provider (and SkyTV) and looking through my data useage I am using almost exactly 70gb every month without doing any gaming (beyond Soda Crush type puzzles)0 -
as an update i managed to get thru to a helpful sky rep who checked my monthly data usage and it varied between 125 - 230gb!!!
wow, i had no idea, so a 25gb capped package would be useless.
step daughter watches a lot of iplayer tv and i downloaded an hd film from sky catchup last night and that was over 5gb!!
think i may go for their offer of unlimited fibre for £10pm. just hope i see a significant difference in performance. i get around 10mb download speed at present and sky say i should average around 36mb on fibre??0 -
I probably average around 5MB download speeds for things so that would be 40Mb (note difference between bit and Byte). Do occasionally see see spikes of up to 64Mb too0

I took the plunge and signed up for the £10/unlimited. 12 month minimum contract.
I was already paying £7.50/month for the broadband, so the difference is £2.50/month.
It does cost £30 for activation, and £6.95 for router delivery (I'm assuming it's different from my current broadband router).
£110 cashback is showing as tracked through Quidco.
So, all up, I'm actually just over £40 better off over the next 12 months from taking up the £10 unlimited fibre offer.0 -

hi
i won't be as well off as you out of the deal because at the moment i get my sky unlimited broadband free as part of my package.
i've taken your advice and registered for the offer thru quidco with £110 cashback as thats a far better deal than battling sky to waive the £30 connection fee!!
many thanks.0 -

yes, you need a VDSL-capable router for fibre as that is the modulation type it uses, as opposed to ADSL for "normal" broadband......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
