Strategies for choosing Managed Funds

I am planning to open a Hargreaves and Landsdown stocks and shares ISA. I am having a difficult time choosing what funds to invest in. The closest I have got is reading an article in the Sunday Times were the following funds were recommended:
JP Morgan Global Emerging Markets Income Trust
Liontrust Asia Income Fund
Blackrock Frontier Investment Trust
I am looking for long term capital growth so my attitude to risk is medium to adventurous. What strategies do other people use when choosing funds e.g. ratio analysis? what ratios?

Have you read any thread on this board? Just two threada below this one there is "investment for beginners" by kriscane , in which your questions are replied.The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0
