Hi all,
I've taken voluntary redundancy from my job with a LA.
What time period is applicable for me to take up another post with a LA without having to pay any of my redundancy payment back? I've heard everything between 4 weeks to 2 years?
Also, during my notice period I had a sick (fit) note covering 4 weeks (broken bones). How is this accommodated during this period? Is it business as usual or does it extend the notice period?
Thanks in anticipation.

A sick note makes no difference to the notice period.
As for re-employment, it is up to the local authority. Some will never employ anyone who has previously taken voluntary redundancy from public service. But the period can be anything between four weeks and one year for others.0 -
Where I work you can't take up a job in the LA within 1 year. If you do, you have to pay back all redundancy payments. You probably need to get hold of your LA's redundancy policy to see what yours says.0

The LA I used to work with had a 6 month period. In reality some people went straight back in as 'consultants'!0

This was frequently my experience from long time working for LA. I am about to take VS from a uni. and specifically asked this question, they say I am banned from ever working for them again, very different from LA.0
