Are PPI payouts being reviewed twice?

I have had a call from Lloyds saying they are reviewing my PPI claim that was upheld over two years ago, saying that they have been asked to look at these again.
I have just taken a call from Bank of Scotland saying the same thing.
Are other people getting these calls please?

I had a call from Lloyds in March, my original claim in 2012 was declined, in May they paid me £9,450 PPI refund, my claim went back to 1998 with 4 cards. TBH I didn't hear from them for ages then a letter came & on the same day the money was in my account.

You could always contact your branch and ask them to double check that it's genuine.

There has been a range of past decision reviews which can lead to different outcomes. MBNA and Lloyds are two known to be required to do this.

I have numbers to check but the info they had was as if they had my previous complaint in front of them.
Why would they review something they have paid out on, do they want their money back now?!!

Because they were told to review past decisions.

Ok thanks,I am pretty naive on all of this & just find it a little odd as surely it would not make any difference to me unless they wanted their money back if they felt they had made the wrong decision??! Forgive my ignorance.

It may be that you were paid using comparative redress and they think you may have been entitled to full redress.

Thanks, I understand now. I appreciate your advice
  • 2/3 years ago I inquired about reclaiming PPI via PPI Advice Line. I faffed about and procrastinated to such an extent that PPI Advice Line rang me and wrote to me and said that I had taken too long to come back to them and that the case was closed.

About 4 months ago Barclays credited my account and wrote to me sayng that they had done a review and awarded me a PPI refund.

PPI Advice Line have since been in touch to see that the refund was a result of their inquiries (even though they had originally dismissed the case). They are demanding their share of the money but I am refusing to hand over as I believe that it was an internal review by Barclays and not anything achieved via PPI Advice Line.

The stumbling block is that I binned all correspondence with them as I had been told that the claim was dead. I therefore have no evidence to prove my point.

If anybody has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
