I find Armagh a nightmare for coverage with any provider, and vodafone the best of a bad lot just for coverage
I had to get a sure signal box which they provided for free, which has been a lifesaver
If you go with one of the other providers, ask can you cancel if your home signal is awful and get a refund.
Handset wise I've always been an apple fan, however having used family members samsung and htc handsets I'll be changing in October to one of those0 -

The way things are going they are going to be using each others masts. That is still not helping customers in remote rural areas where there is not enough!

Living in the north & working in the south several days a week, I've used them all from BT Cellnet to Vodafone & everything in between (even Virgin once lol).
There is no doubt about it, Vodafone have the worst customer service / retention team known to mankind. However, they undoubtedly offer the best coverage. A lot of my colleagues use O2, EE etc... and are always complaining about dropped calls, bad coverage etc... as they often work in the same areas as I do. That said, there has definitely been a recent drop in VF coverage. This could however be due to the 4g roll out expected as 3g is being overlooked.
I personally use the VF Ireland addon which for £5/month gives me my calls / text / data in ROI for no extra charge (receiving AND making calls to any UK OR ROI number). This with unlimited calls / text & 7 gig data for £27/month. I kept my own phone.
Less data drops the charge dramatically.0 -

I'm also very happy with 3 and have not had any issues with coverage (although I am in rural Co. Antrim, not Armagh). You can get a pay as you go sim card for free via their website, the minimum top up is a fiver so not too expensive to test out. They also offer an app "three in touch" which will use a wifi connection for calls and texts, where mobile signals are unavailable but wifi is.0

I think I'm going to stay, albeit reluctantly, with Vodafone for the immediate future, I'm prepared to put up with the black spots, simply because I think the deal suits me
They are offering 900mins, unlimited texts, 500mb data for £14 month all calls, texts and data within the island are included in that price. If I move up to the next bundle then it's unlimited calls and texts and 1 g data for £17 month, but I guess I don't talk 15 hours a month on the phone - at least I hope I don't
I don't really use much data, and there seem to be more than enough free wifi spots around. I would have liked 1g, to be sure, to be sure, but that's life
I've checked the 3 website and their contracts seem to be for 24 months. I don't want to tie myself down to that amount of time again. I was talking to O2 and Tesco mobile reps face to face and they both said they just couldn't match Vodafones deal. That's the latest0 -
Incorrect - Three offer a range of monthly contracts for SIM-only. Click the link below and then choose 1 month for the contract length:
