How much to move a window?

Hi

I don't have any quotes but I was wondering what would be a reasonable price.

The window in question is in the bathroom - it's currently in the 'middle' of the exterior wall face. We want to move it about a foot (no change in height) so a new shower screen could go up against the wall.

We would also get a new double-glazed window as the existing one is quite old now.

The window is 30x60 cm ish and the walls are solid.

Thanks

Could be a lot depends on the construction of your home. Mine is made of stone and rendered once you start moving things all sorts of trouble can start.

    Thanks.

Anyone also know who I would get a quote from? General builder or window fitter or both?!

Window fitters won't do construction, builder is what you need. You will probably need a structural engineer as well.

It's a bit more to than just moving. If it is solid brickwork You need a good bricklayer that can "nest" the bricks in so the look from the outside looks the same as the rest. Probably need to get some new bricks as well. Go with a builder.
