Computer home page

Options
hello to you all,

This has probably been asked on here before but I'm new here and not sure how to look for it so here goes,

My home page on my computer keeps changing every time I switch my computer on, I go through the same procedure to change it back but it changes from "Google.co.uk" to uk.search.yahoo.com. Before anyone says "go to setting etc...." I've done it but the same thing happens every time I start up.

I have a "home" button on the address bar and when I click it, it goes back to Google.

I don't want or like yahoo and wish to keep google as my home and search page and wondered if anyone can help me?

Please don't get too techie with me as I'm not that computer literate.

Much obliged...

Jeff :(

Sometimes malware will hijack your browser homepage settings, preventing you from changing them. You could try installing these free programs and running a scan with each to see if they can find (and fix) the problem:

    MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware: https://www.malwarebytes.org/
    adwCleaner: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

MalwareBytes is better at finding malware in general, while adwCleaner focuses on malware-related browser settings, so it's well worth running both.

Which OS, which browser? Download another browser (I.e Chrome, Firefox if using IE) and see if the same thing happens.
If it goes to google.co.uk when you click the Home button, then your home age is not getting hijacked-it's the start page settings.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks for your replies, very much appreciated and I'll try the two links to see what happens.

  • Malwarebytes worked a treat, thank you.
