New loft hatch installation

hi all
As part of a bathroom refurm, we are having to install a new loft hatch on our landing.
Obviously the loft clutter / valuables around the new space will need to be cleared; but I wondered whether EVERYTHING in the loft needs to be emptied too?
It currently just has a number of large wooden boards down, not "boarded" in the true sense.
Any advice greatly welcomed
Cheers

No - common sense would say give them a clear 6' square area to work around - most will be done from the landing anyway with little in the actual loft.
And if they're running pipes up there make sure there is ample working space around the area/tanks up there if applicable.

To install a loft hatch only requires a decent amount of space around the area being worked on....say a metre each way, depending on the size of the fitter, of course.
Make sure the intended space is suitable as regards placement of existing cabling and pipes.
Seriously consider a combined loft hatch and ladder unit if you use your loft a lot. Wouldn't be without mine now. Before buying one, however, check the gap between joists to be sure it will fit.0 -
I would agree with Davesnave. I did mine based around a loft ladder. If you make your new hatch and then decide you'd like a loft ladder, you will go mad trying to find one to fit the size of hatch that you cut.0
