Mine has been sitting in a corner of the garden underneath a bush for the majority of the day. After dinner he tends to stay in and 'elongates' himself over the windowsill at the top of the stairs.

However, to get him in for dinner, we have to go and pluck him out from under the bush, else I'm convinced he would stay there all night!
  • It's not raining here yet, but we are infor a deluge later, I'd welcome the sight of her muddy paw prints in the kitchen to know she is home
Thanks for your replies it's great to know she's not being aloof or fed up with me and she's perfectly normal. I do love her though and I miss her, I'm glad she's happy exploring the garden and enjoying herself.

According to Wikipedia cats are well equipped to tolerate heat:

Cat physiology displays several unusual features probably attributable to cats' descent from desert-dwelling species. For instance, cats are able to tolerate quite high temperatures: Humans generally start to feel uncomfortable when their skin temperature passes about 38 °C, but cats show no discomfort until their skin reaches around 52 °C and can tolerate temperatures of up to 56 °C if they have access to water. [...]

My two indoor cats eat less when it's hot.

I don't want to know what experiments were done to establish their heat tolerance.

LOL sweaty paws, can you imagine if they wore little socks? We'd be forever washing them :rotfl:

Both of my kitties will stay out at night, despite much begging, pleading and rattling of the biscuit box by me at the back door.

My husband works nights and will often be up in the small hours, even on his nights off. He is treated to a nightly performance of letting one or the other cat in, only for them to want to go back out again, 5 minutes later.

We have noticed an increase in the hunting though. My youngest cat does love a worm and we had a record of 5 lovely specimens, all bought in via an upstairs window and lovingly laid out in the kitchen for approval in the morning. (Thank goodness for the early daylight, I'd hate to tread on one in bare feet *shudders*) She normally has to make do with my son's dressing gown tie cord, which she manages to pull out of the loops, drag down the stairs and which we always find left in the hallway by the front door.

My older cat, who has never once brought any creatures in for us, managed to catch a tiny baby mouse, and proceeded to "play" with it until DH got it into a box and released it in the garden. Poor little thing didn't have a mark on it, although it was probably in shock, we just hope it survived.

They're not eating so much at the moment, unless you count winged insects and anything they find crawling on the floor!
