Concreting the UK

Perhaps the trick is to spread dry concrete mix everywhere then let the rain do the work?Left is never right but I always am.0

Do we stop at Hadrians wall? I remember the Scots voting to remain part of the UK so that includes the concrete
Bet the snp find something to whinge about with thisLeft is never right but I always am.0 -
Dunno. The lower bits. Norfolk at a guess.
The thing is that it will go there very fast. Every time it rains will be like Bocastle for some portions of the country. At least the water should contain less debris, after it has wiped out Manchester the first time;)
Regarding the coarse aggregate, I think I have found a solution. We require 35k km^3 of concrete. This requires approximately 25k km3 of aggregate. Given this large volume, the mountains in Wales may not be enough. We would require assistance from our friends in Nepal to allow us to farm the rock in the Himalayas (Mt. Everest approx. 2.5k km3).In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Isn't Nepal a landlocked country? I could see logistical problems getting that much aggregate out of the place.
The Alps are ~300,000 km^2 in area. If we were to shave 10m off the sides and top of each alp, valley floor etc we'd get the aggregate we needed. (I say 10m to account for the fact that we'd need to do this in secret so couldn't knock down towns or villages, just take the rock).
Alternatively, France is ~600,000 km^2 in area so we could simply remove ~5m of France, all over.
Ah no, I've got it! The Nullabor Plain. It's 200,000km^2 but there are a maximum of 1,000 people living on it and it is just one big rock. You could truck the rock to Adelaide or Perth and ship it out from there. 12.5m of the Nullabor and the job's done.0 -
Do we have to do runcorn? I hate going to runcorn, even if it is to annihilate the placeLeft is never right but I always am.0

Aren't we concreting over the rivers and lakes too? If we're going to do something like this it should be done properly or not at all.
Agreed, but I am sure the OP intends to install lots of manholes & drains too. It fact if we drill the drains deep enough we could make them run out into the ocean.:)Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
