Travel Insurance - contents / two providers.

Hi,
We have bought travel insurance for medical purposes, but this also comes with some personal possessions insurance. We are also covered for personal possessions away from home with our home insurance - this is much better cover.
If I do make a claim, in the case of a loss, am I entitled to choose which insurance cover I can claim this off? I can see the home insurance people asking whether I had travel insurance, and want to be prepared for that conversation (if, ever, it occurs).
In the event of a loss I understand you can't make two claims, I'm not interested in that.
Thanks.

You should claim off the policy with the lowest excess, assuming it covers your losses.
The insurers will sort out between themselves who pays what (when you have dual insurance both companies normally pay their share of a claim. but apart from you having to let the company you claim from know where else you have cover you won't have to get involved)0 -
The terms of the insurance will say what happens in the situation of dual cover.
It can be that the insurer you claim from picks up the full tab, particularly if its the travel insurer. Alternatively it can be that they share the cost between them.
From your persecutive just answer their questions honestly and they will sort things out between themselves.0 -
Ok thanks, I'll look at the dual cover wording then.0

You should be able to claim off the best policy to you - what you cannot do is claim off both.0
