Update on mortgage application

If we want an update on a mortgage application, found by a broker from a company called RSC and the mortgage application submitted to Halifax.

Can we contact halifax direct for updates etc or is it best to go through the broker?

I would consider I was doing something wrong if our clients were phoning the lender for updates.

As an example, on our latest Halifax case (submitted 6/7/15) as usual the documents were accepted five minutes after the case was submitted. The valuation was instructed and booked for 16/7/15.

I dropped the client an email today to tell them, as they may have been wondering what's going on.

I'd hope the case will be offered on 17/7, so less than two weeks from application to offer but we would tell them if there was an unusual delay in one part of the process, as there was here.

I should have chosen a different broker! Has been 12 days for me and other than 2 ID searches on my credit report, I've heard nothing. Not even getting a reply to my email or anwering phonecalls.

Thanks, I thought i would ask here as im new to the process and im just curious about it all. Thought it might be rude going direct to Halifa. Only got submitted on 10/07/2015 so im not expecting anything back yet just getting my facts right incase we find ourselves with delays as we need to have a mortgage offer by 14th august. I have heard Halifax are pretty good at this so ill just keep the faith :D

KS is correct in that this delay is not usual.

The current Halifax procedure when followed by a good broker will normally led swift decision and valuation - days rather than weeks.

Your broker should be managing this and updating you regularly - if they are not, you need to speak to them and tell them to put it right.

My general advice is not to contact the lender direct as this can cause complications if the wrong thing is said.

Cool, thanks for the reply. Like i say we only had the application submitted on friday gone so im not stressing about it yet, i wont count the weekend either as i would imagine not much goes on during a weekend. Ill just be patient and im sure he will update us when needed. He seemed pretty sound. On another note had anyone dealt with RSC Before?

I had my application submitted by my broker to Halifax on Friday 3rd July. The broker confirmed on the Monday that the valuation was booked in for Thursday and then she phoned me on Friday to say I had an offer and I received it by email minutes later. So dead on 7 days (incl a weekend!) and all they wanted from me were 3 payslips. I hope yours will be as swift and easy as mine!

I made my application through broker to Halifax on 7th July and had an email from broker to say my income had been verified and the valuation was booked for Wednesday 15th. Does this mean the application has been accepted pending the valuation or do they book the valuation before accepting the mortgage?

I was thinking the same. We are entering the 6th week of waiting. We are loosing our confidence over our broker.
He doesn't tell us anything ither than that they have sent our documents that bank has requested so he thinks that we have saticfied them.
    Feel like shoot him
