Car insurance renwal with same company

Hello

My car insurance with Privilege runs out on in 10days time. I cancelled my automatic renewal wtih them due to expensive quote. Found cheapest quote on moneysupermarket from same company. I then phoned Privilege with my new cheaper quote but got passed to renewals dept (as i am existing customer) who then could not honour the quote as excess from comparison website did not match my current excess on their system. To be honest, I am confused as my excess on comparison website is the same. Should I go to a different company, which will means paying a little be more? Any advice would be appreciated

have you checked the basic excess plus voluntary is the same?

The voluntary is often in addition to the standard.

The Privilege quote from moneysupermarket includes £100 compulsory plus £200 voluntary (same as my current existing policy). But when I phoned Privilege they said that info they'd received from comparision website included £100 compulsory and £0 zero voluntary. I even logged onto to comparison website (showing £200 voluntary) whilst on the phone to double check but company didn't believe me saying ' I must've used a different system'.

I have found that if I accept the quote and pay online by accessing privilege website via moneysupermaket, the £200 voluntary excess is included on Privilege website. However, not sure if having cancelled automatic renewal that i could buy policy from same company as a new customer?

    Hello Baggypuss,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having this problem with your car insurance. From what you’ve said, you still have five days until your current policy expires.

So, it might be a good idea to show Privilege what you’re seeing when you apply online. You could take a screenshot of the quote or write down the quote number. You could then give them a call and share it with them.

    I hope this helps!
