Even I am not sure any more, I had Lava soft appeared, which I deleted, message about a faster browser appears, there is also a search bar, I don't understand where it came from. Have updated, ms updates.
I have almost given up now.

Try Malwarebytes,ADWC and JRT ...too soon to give up ...or just restore from a backup or do a full re-install.

I know nothing, but if google was installed, google has adblock plus as part of the install, maybe that removed the offending icon ?

Does it really? As part of the standard install? Are you sure?

Or is it just that you've had it installed on another PC with Chrome, and when you signed in to Chrome on a new PC your add-ons were simply synchronised? ;)

OP when you say you delete something, have you just removed it from the desktop?

No offence, but because of your apparent lack of knowledge, I can't imagine you going into control panel and actually uninstalling this stuff. Removing Icons does nothing......

As for "installing Google", it sounds to me like you've been had by scammers..... Did money change hands?

I think a roll back (using System Restore) would be a very good place to start, go back to before any problems started occurring and stop installing random 5hit from the internet.

I think it may be worth spending £20 and taking your computer into a computer specialist or Geek Squad type place, and getting somebody else to check it out.

With respect, what you have posted on here doesn't sound like you're fluent with a computer and I don't think advising over a forum will help in this case.

Thank you Tavernman, Clicking on your link got me through. Running it has enabled me to write this message of thanks. I am now going to RUN Adcleaner, hopefully I will be able to use the Laptop now. I kept getting a voice message telling me that I must call '02038050590' to get help with the Viruses, I did call them and they are a private tech company.
I think they deliberately send viruse out and then promote their business. Thank you again.
