Natwest Select New:

I just applied for a natwest select account, went through all the stages of the application and it said great news your eligible for a current account, then I could select which account I wanted, there was several which some come with a monthly charge, I just opted for a £0 monthly charge account, anyways I also selected after that point that I wanted a cheque book, it asked me to create my password, PIN number and memorable words, got to the last page and it then asked me for ID before it could open the account, has this happened to anyone else before, has this account been approved and now I just have to take ID in or can it still be declined, I would of thought as they asked me to create a password and memorable information it would be approved, they even give me my 10 digit customer number.

It does tell you at the start of the application to have a debit card and either your passport or driving licence handy as they maybe able to electronically verify your identity.

When I opened mine it went through all the details Asked me for my debit card details and then I inputted my driving license information then at the end it gave me my account details and sort code.

I'm guessing you didn't pass the verification stage so they may want you to pop into a branch with ID.

Its by no means certain that you have been accepted as there have been incidents here on this forum where people have had accounts opened only for the AVU department to close them a few days or a week later.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.
