We have a DMP with Stepchange, we're fairly new to it all and 3 payments in. Scary stuff this debt stuff, but feeling better everyday. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions along the way, but thank you all for sharing your stories so far x

    Hi All

Quick undate - emailed Stepchange on Wed and they emailed back that they have a small backlog but would be in touch soon. Getting a bit impaatient just to get things undeway. I sent off my first token payments and I need to send off the others soon for this month. Still not opened another bank account - been with my bank for years and like the online service but I have an overdrat with them.

Had 3 creditors respond positively but the others haven't been in touch yet.
Also got an interview on 20th for a christmas job so fngers crossed!

    Hi Maddie,

It can take a bit of time with SC but it will get sorted. We were with the same bank for years, but had a loan debt and credit card with them so looked for a basic bank account else where that was not part of the same banking group. We moved all direct debits ourselves, just phoned them up and moved. We have 5 debts, took a while for some to write directly to us, now most have defaulted us, 10 months into our DMP.

    Good luck with the interview.

    Hello Good People
I have returned briefly because although my DMP is now done, I remember the very real support but also fun we shared with each other on this thread. I can see from the messages that this non-judgemental ethos continues.
I am celebrating (in a small way) because the default slapped on my account in October 2009 has just expired :)
I am now a fully fledged credit worthy person again - therefore the postman has a bad back from carrying the sacks of credit offers coming to my door. It just makes me smile now that all these folk wish to lend me money!
I have had a credit card for some time now. Used when financially sensible and paid in full each month. Still not rolling in dosh but managing well and thankful to be living a happy debt free life.
Your day will come. Stay strong through the dark times, support each other, laugh when you can and one day it will be YOUR day.

    Hi Twitty

That's good to know you've found a way to move forward after DMP. It's a very long tunnel at the moment for me, with a dim flicker of light at the end. I like to read good news stories so thanks for sharing and congrats on losing your last default and becoming a credit worthy person once again.

Have a great debt busting week everyone.

Good luck for interview next week.

You might find some creditors don't respond other than perhaps a note on your statement. My second largest creditor did it this way, and never contacts me now, even though payments have wavered along the way, so it's not a bad sign you haven't heard anything.

    Hi

Well done on getting the interview for the 2nd/part time job. Just a note of caution - when I started my DMP around 18 months ago, I took a 2nd job at weekends to pay my sons college fees. Now I am struggling with not spending enough quality time with my family, always having to decline weekend offers and don't get me started on my bathrooms or ironing pile.... I have just had my 2nd cold in 2/3 months that has completely knocked me off my feet. I don't mean to sound negative about this but if its a choice of you or them - take you - you are precious.

    Hi all

Yet another question - I am having difficulty finding out how to address cheques to my creditors. Have searched through websites, did searches here and on google and looked through my paperwork and even tried contacting them but no luck so far. The problem ones are primarily payday loans. For anyone who has sent cheques did you addresss them to yourself as the payee with your account number or to the company with your account no on the back?

Thanks for the good luck wishes. NFY - the interview is for an 8hr per week christmas job but I totally get where you are coming from as I used to have 2 part time jobs as well as my full time job. Unfortunately both ended unexpectedly at the same time but on the plus side they were only really enabling me to keep strugling along and I do enjoy actually having time (if not the funds) to have a life.
