:j. We have a new basic bank account :j

Thank you so much everyone for your support and advice you don't realise how much you have helped me. :A

Had email confirmation about our new account that is open but we need to wait up to 7 days for log in details etc.

Logged onto CCs and removed any direct debit details. Not that we ever used this as we always paid it online before the DD was taken but I have removed the chance that they will raid my bank before I set everything up.

Once my wages go in in Feb I will withdraw my loan payments just in case. This makes me feel out of order :(

I will update later after my phone call

Slept very well considering and still feel quite positive about the journey ahead. Have gathered loan and CC details ready for the phone call tonight.

I'm convinced though that they will say we have enough money to carry on as we are.

I think we do realise how much we've helped;) We have all been exactly where you are now and have, ourselves, received so much good advice and support. Well done on the new basic account.

Please also log into your existing bank account and delete direct debit authorisations - don't just delete info on the CC accounts. Cover your back and delete the instruction at both bank and CC.

If Stepchange say you have enough money then go self managed DMP. However, I doubt they will say that.

    Thankyou January
I was scared to delete my DD from my account as the loans are with my bank. I have gained a repayment holiday on both loans until 15th March when they will be due again.

I didnt want them to be suspicious

Don't worry about your bank. delete the DDs at least 24 hours before the payment is due out.

  • Quick query - following my emails to our creditors to inform them of the reduced payments for the next two months I have received similar emails from a few of them saying the following:

"We note that reduced payments of £5.00 will be made for the next 2 months due to unexpected circumstances, and we thank you for making us aware of this.

Your account has been placed on hold until 26th February 2017 to enable Step Change to contact us with your financial details and proposals for repayment. During this time, we can confirm that collections activity will be suspended.

If they are unable to provide this information within the next 30 days, please request that they contact us with an update as we may be able to agree an extension to the 30 day hold period. Please contact us on or before this date otherwise your account will return to standard collection activity and contact will restart."

My question is will SC send them the information they are requesting? Do I need to contact the creditors to inform them of the reasons we are reducing payments (I have just said 'unexpected expenses' in my original emails)? I am just worried that if they don't get these 'financial details and proposals' they are asking for by the date given then they will start adding interest or chasing us for payment.

Any suggestions as to what, if anything else, I need to do? I know SC have changed the direct debits in Feb and March as I have had a letter confirming this but not sure whether they actually inform the creditors officially or send any financial info over which the creditors seem to be asking for.

    Help!!!!

    Many thanks,

    BDFSH x

    Hi BDFSH

We are in the same boat here, I am contacting my creditors on Wednesday as I paid the usual amount to SC in january and having to go on token payments for a few months. I havent reveived anything from SC yet so Ill be giving them a nudge too, hopefully ill hear before Wednesday and I wont have to. You are a little ahead of me so i'm watching your posts with interest :D

Let me know if you get any hassle. I have the creditors numbers ready and emails all prepped and ready to go.

I did get a letter from Sainsburys who are a bit of a pain, saying i havent made the payments in January as agreed and to contact them, that was all because i pay SC by standing order on the 17th of the month and had to pay early in December so while they got their December payment early they got the January payment on or about the 25th which is normal, fingers crossed they will realise this when i call on wednesday.

Ill let you know how i get on with the rest

  • Erm just a quick question

What does it mean when you cant access your BC online activity. Just got a message stating to contact their customer advice centre, does this mean BC have finally defaulted me.

BC are in the process of defaulting the account. However, for us it took months from removal of online access to actual default being registered with credit reference agencies. The good news is you are on your way to a much wanted default :j

Oh, by the way, we didn't bother contacting their customer advice centre :rotfl:

Billy, I second what January said about the online access situation.

I have never had any dealings with BC but all my credit card creditors removed online access very early in my DMP:(. Seemed a bit of a pain at the time as I like to have easy access to view the state of play in my accounts but so long as you keep records yourself about payments being made all is well. Your creditors should send you a paper statement every few months anyway so you have a permanent record of what's what:)

I can't recall after all this time whether it was just prior to being defaulted or not when online access was withdrawn:o. If it helps the only one to keep my online access open over the 3 years of my DMP was Lloyds. They finally defaulted me in October and voila, the online account access disappeared immediately;)

Strangely, I kept getting an email from Tesco Bank every month to say my latest statement is available to view online but could I heck as like get access to it:rotfl:

    Thanks January and Carbootcrazy

I hoped this was the case as I received a letter saying if I didnt oay the balance by 17 January they were going to default my account.

Whoop, another defaul added to the list only need Santander for my loan and Ratesetter for my second loan and ill have a full house. Nothing sold on yet but Ive only had my DMP for five months now. Have to say it is really working for me.:T
  • I'd really appreciate a bit of advice please if anyone can throw a bit of light on what's going on.

I've just checked my Noddle file (and I don't take a lot of what's on there as gospel as it is often inaccurate:() One of my debts was sold on to Hoist in October and the default is showing only from then. The previous dates are left completely blank. The original creditor, Tesco, defaulted me in the spring of 2013 and the default marker was recorded against that debt from then on in my Noddle account. All details of this earlier period have now disappeared completely from my credit report:eek:.

Do you think since Hoist took over this is a 'new' default that has the full 6 year period to run before dropping off my file, or will the original 3 year period when payments were made directly to Tesco count towards it?

Probably a dumb question:o and if so please forgive me.
