You did want the goods yes ?
Well, no, actually I don't:eek:. That's why I didn't sign and send off the order, I was giving myself time to decide if I could really afford them. They are pretty much necessities but I can do without for a few more weeks. I can just about afford them now, but thought it best to wait a few weeks until Christmas is out of the way as funds are low.
I'm annoyed with OH more than anything for seeing the envelope on my desk and posting it without checking with me if I wanted it to be sent. The first I knew he had done it was when I was checking my internet banking today and saw the transaction. I was asking him what he made of it, how they could have taken money from my account when I'd never placed an order with them for months and he admitted it must be his fault;).
This is a bit nit-picky I suppose but I wondered whether an order for goods is binding if the order form is left unsigned. I know it's not like leaving a cheque unsigned, but if an order form that asks for all bank details, name of account holder etc etc also has a box for the account holder's signature then surely it has to be signed to make a legal 'contract'.0 -

If you buy something mail order or off the internet, then the distance selling regs apply which means you can return most things within a 14 day window, for a full refund, regardless.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi CBC
Its not picky and I feel your pain, but DD can be set up over the phone, so there must be some which are done without a signature, I don't know if that makes them legal or not though.
Like sourcrates says though, Distance selling rules should save the day, but if it's a postage question, probably worth ring them to say you didn't sign it can they send you a returns label.

I know those feelings well, I remember feeling fed up and frustrated when I had about two years to go. I found that if I broke down everything into achievable regular milestones it did help reduce the frustration and I could concentrate on smaller chunks. This made me feel as though I was achieving something every 2/3 months.
I am now almost at the end of my DMP and have just three payments to go before I am debt-free. I have a feeling that those 3 months are going to seem a looong time:o

Yeah go Ellie :T:T, I think those 3 will whizz by, because the first is obviously taken up with Christmas:)
Best wishes for a debt free 2017 :beer:Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Thanks, Sazzie:T. Sensible advice as always:beer:0 -
Back again with what's probably a dumb question:o, Sorry.
I'm in the process of setting up my self-managed DMP at long last:j. I've already phoned SC to cancel and my last payment from them has now been taken. They are going to send me some info but I'm not racing to get things set up with creditors as I planned to have January as a payment 'holiday'. The longer it takes to get everything in place the better;)
I have a niggling worry now that a couple of my creditors may start to impose interest again. I saw this on the NEDCAB website about disadvantages of self-management:
****You may have potential issues surrounding existing frozen interest and charges when transferring from a DMP provider****
My problem is that I really need to get my DMP paid off as soon as I can so want to keep the payments at pretty much what they have been on SC. It looks as if I've already been paying my 2 smallest creditors slightly more per month than the minimum payment would normally be for a credit card debt of that amount. They have kept the interest frozen so far though.
Is it common for creditors to start charging interest on self-managed DMPs?0 -
Coming up to the 2nd non debt payment payday of our 4 month debt sabbatical. A few rather bizarre letters just saying call us on this number, when we say "In Writing Only". Like I am going to do that?
All seems rather painless though, a couple of the non defaulters still saying "we may have to default you though". Will nudge them in the New Year not to just say that but actually follow through with it.0 -

Hi Carboot,
Your best bet here is to keep your creditors informed of what your doing, write and tell them your taking a payment sabbatical, and when you will resume payments.
Doing that gives you the greatest chance of any existing interest freeze been carried over to your self managed endevour.
If some do start charging again, its back to the "please stop charging interest" letters i`m afraid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
