All you can do is write and ask them to default you.

Send a written complaint to each creditor, as really they are supposed to default you after 3-6 months, but some don't.

  • 2 out of 3 of my barclaycard accounts have been defaulted and passed to link financial... anyone had experience of them? Just waiting for them to contact me about it x
  • Well I thought I would just be a long-term lurker on this thread but all your expert knowledge and general positivity meant I just had to post!

I recently took the plunge to go for a DMP with SC after racking up £46K of debt *thinking* I was being clever with 0% credit until it just wasn't available anymore :(

Thanks to your advice I've tweaked my budget to a manageable sum and I've never felt more organised, I can finally spend on the essentials and transport without feeling guilty !

So hello everyone, new and old, I'm feeling positive to start my journey with you lovely lot and see those £'s come down! :money:

  • Before I saw Shirt buttons' post and replied to it I'd just dropped in to announce (drum roll please:rotfl:) that today was my last SC payment:j. No, I'm not finally debt free (I wish;)) but am now starting to self-manage my DMP. Thanks a million to all the self-managers on here who have generously offered advice and encouragement:A. You know who you are.

I'll always be grateful to SC for holding my hand through the scary times and for helping me to pay off just £83 short of a massive £30,000 in 3 years and 9 months:j. Still nearly £27,000 to go though:o

Now to get on to the calls and paperwork to set up my creditor payments. I'm not in a rush though as I decided to pay creditors via SC this month to round off the year and then have January 'off' as a repayment 'holiday' ;). After studying NEDCAB I plan to leave my repayments at pretty much the same level, just slightly less, than I've been doing with SC. For now at least.

thinking of doing the same and going self managed ......read over NEDCAB and going to go for it , good luck. I've changed my income and expenditure to allow me more money for f&f

I got a letter from Link saying that they'd be carrying on with the payment plan and that was that... they seemed to do all the StepChange stuff I didn't have to do anything except keep making the payments to StepChange.

My Barclaycard accounts were recently transferred too -and similar to CP2016, all that happened was that I received confirmation of the transfer from Link and they advised they would contact SC direct, which they did. So there's nothing to worry about here :) I'm quite pleased actually, because BC were the only ones who have continued to charge interest over the last 3 1/2 years - Grrr, but now all interest will be stopped :T

Yes my BC is also with Link now, although I've been on 0% interest for a while.
I've been with link for several years with MBNA too and they have stuck to the agreement with SC. when I first transferred they did say they'd be open to an F&F offer, so if anyone is thinking of going that way Defo worth a a try.

P.s. CBC I do the positive stuff on here so I can do it in real world too:o

My 2 MBNA accounts are with Link. They have been for about 3 years and the company has never given me any cause to worry. They send a statement every now and then and that's it. Certainly no hassle whatsoever:j

Not sure how they'll react to me being self-managed but they'll be getting pretty much the same monthly amount that they got via SC. I live in hope that things will stay just as friendly now I'm going it alone:)
