Exactly !!
Even IF they did take you to court, its nothing to be worried about, as long as it doesn't affect your work, a CCJ is nothing to be afraid of, you would still make the same payment, legal action is totally pointless in my opinion.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Just received a letter from Mint who I have a credit card debt with. They said:
'We're writing to advise you that we have partnered with Westcot Credit Services Limited who will now manage the remainder of your plan'.
Mint have already defaulted me at the start of my DMP in spring 2013. Does this mean they have now 'sold' my debt to Westcot?
Also, has anyone any experience of what Westcot are like to deal with please? The only other company who any of my other debts have been sold on to is Link.0 -

Hi,
Sounds like westcot are just managing the account, they have just taken over 2 of mine and I spoke to them, they seem pleasant enough!

All my debts have defaulted except two. I paid one off last month and will be paying the other one off this month. How long will the last late payment marker stay on my credit file for?

6 years from settlement date I am afraid, the defaulted debts will be 6 years from date of default0 -
Thank you. That's what I thought. Are late payments worse than defaults?

Hi Tina
Congratulations on getting so close to paying off some debts.
I don't think late oayments would be consiered worse than defaults, thats why the FOS seems to think they are less damaging and don't insist on defaults. The bigger problem is their more recentness (that's possibly not a word but you know what i mean), on your record.
I suspect all future creditors will take an individual view, but if you think you will need credit in the future probably worth looking at the MSE credit builder pages,

Hello,
Nothing to worry about here at all. Halifax sold my debt on to Westcott a good year on from starting my DMP (and post Default). All Westcott did is send a letter advising that they were now dealing with it and simply said to continue with the agreed payments. The only other time I heard from them was a few months back when they confirmed the account had been paid in full.
As far as DCAs go, they're not bad at all0 -
Hi Guys
Just a typical newbie post to say thank you to everyone who has posted on this threads and the ones previous. Have been lurking the past few months and have gone from a sleepless wreck back to semi normal. well as normal as anyone is.
Brief template is partner suffered from a major mental health issues a few months after we moved into our new place. Had only my wage for a long time whilst we sorted out benefits (he was very reluctant as he has always worked but he had been holding it together for years before it all finally hit the fan.) this was a couple of years ago and he's still working towards some resemblance of recovery (much prefer him getting help over his paycheck though!). As soon as benefits sorted my hours got cut in half at work, stress and yada yada have made my own physical health issues flare so in a way its a good thing the hours got cut. Que to spiralling payday loans and credit card. Finally realised I couldn't keep it up anymore in May and thought the baliffs would be at my door, the thought of my partner having to deal with that in his venerable state sent waves of sickening guilt through me.
Then i stumbled upon you lovely lot and realised that things arn't hopeless. Contacted Stepchange and now have my first DMP payment coming out next month. For the first time in a long time it's not all doom and gloom. DFD is obviously a way off at the moment but knowing that I've stepped out of the spiral has made everything a little more manageable. Sooo.. .yeah ... sorry to waffle on. But for a group of people I've never met you have made such a positive impact. Good luck to all on there journey and such a big thank you for all the questions these posts have already answered!0
