Halifax previously sent me £75 for failing to respond to earlier correspondence. I have also had £300 from Nationwide for failing to update the credit agencies when a joint account moved to sole account, they paid me £250 and then a further £50 when it took longer to resolve than they had intended. Who knew you could make money out of this?
Hi CM,
Your literally coining it in...!! You are so right about double checking and complaining... I have had £50 from N*twest for treating accounts differently, One months dmp payment wiped from a DCA for being a PRAT.. (do you get it...!) and £100 from doing a face to face debt interview through this site... Currently got another compliant in with N*twest as they haven't updated one of my credit files for 8 months...!
This month I have only paid my creditors 50% as I had a big car repair bill.. I wrote to them all and sent a copy of the bill with it.. Not heard anything apart from a nice letter from another DCA suggesting I pay nothing this month to help me out... Unfortunately I had already paid it so couldn't take them up on this kind offer....
It's funny how 'tough' you get when on a dmp....:T

Hi there,
Complete newbie here! I've recently started my DMP journey and I would like to say thank you for this thread. It really helped me realise what a state things were in and I can't tell you how relieved I feel knowing things are on the right track. All my debtors so far have been fantastic but I am still forever waiting for the barrage of phone calls to start up again.
I've started checking this thread daily and will probably do so moving forward, its invaluable :-)
Welcome Alistar to our wonderful dmp world....

I've just started a self managed dmp and had my first positive response today. I asked to pay by standing order. The email I received today states 'Bank Transfers – Telephonic / Electronic Transfer, CHAPS' and includes sort code, account number and account name. Daft question but does this mean I can pay by standing order?

Hi Tina,
I would think so but I would be tempted to call or email again just stating is this the sort code and account number for me to set up a standing order. You should have a personal reference number/account number that you also need so they can identify its your payment..

Yes it does. A standing order is the same as an electronic transfer - its just that you have pre-planned it for a set date each month.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Hi Alistar and Nextyeartina.
I'm new too.
Hi everyone else. You've already been so helpful!
I'm posting on a diff username as couldn't remember password from my phone.
So we did an SOA with stepchange, but after first call, got documents and there were a few omissions and errors. Called to get changed but they wouldn't put me through to the right team as 'they wouldn't get through?!!' Was told I'd gets call back in 13 working days!! So I emailed stuff to them and got an auto response to say they would get back in touch in 7 working days....and nothing as yet. I'm getting a little frustrated as the first bit was so quick and easy...and now it's like a brick wall.
I guess I'm impatient as I'd like the plan in place...wondering if I should just go self managed?
Bizarrely I do want to do a couple of months of token payments to help with emergency fund, so it's not like I want to rush things along, more that I want the plan ok'd so we can move forward.
Perhaps I just need to be more patient? !!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Evening everyone.
Just a question r.e. Littlewoods and Very. I'm on a reduced payment plan with both (via them and not the DMP which starts on 1st July.) However, this month is a massive struggle and they've said in the past that if I don't keep up with the payment arrangement i.e. not pay or pay less than was agreed, that I'd have to pay the arrears in full (which also, obviously, isn't doable.)
Because I am now on a DMP, if I do miss this months payments and just go from July when the DMP kicks in, what will happen? Can they then refuse to accept that I'm on a DMP?2019 Wins

Ladymoticia, you need to start looking at this from the angle of what your going to pay them, not what there asking you to pay.
You will be paying via your DMP, that's it, if they don't like it, they don't like it, and will sell the debt on, in which case stepchange pay the new owner instead.
