Don't want to burst your bubble but I received a few default notices from BC but they never registered the default. Luckily the debt has now been sold so showing as default under new ownership! Keep the champagne on ice until the cra' s show the big red D.

Have to agree with Puzz, we had 2 promised from our Barclaycards and only one has happened so far. But just to prove they do exist here it is in all it's glory from my noddle :D Took 8 months from 1st Default letter though.

Well BC have been playing up again.... After our complaint last month, they promised to stop all interest and move the accounts forward to default. Well, guess what??...this month's statement has interest added on again!!:mad::mad:

We have again submitted a formal complaint about this and asked for interest to be taken off etc etc.
They have replied that their Customer Relations team is dealing with the complaint and they hope to have resolved it by July 4th!!!! I have said that is unacceptable and I want the interest removed again immediately and the accounts moved forward to default as promised. We understood that for some reason the default was going to take 7 months, but why they added interest on again after promising not to is beyond me and why they think it would take until July to sort it out is a joke!! The amount of interest they are adding is more than the amount we are paying!!!!:mad::mad:

    Hi ploppy,

I know you say they are dealing with the complaint but would it be worth doing an online complaint to the FOS? They will soon tell you if they can help or not.... Obviously half the problem with dmp's is they are informal and as such BC are actually allowed to charge interest even though we don't want them to. I assume you have quoted the lending code at them. If FOS get involved they charge BC £500...:D.... Just a thought....

BC were t overly bad with me. Interest and charges were stopped from the off but a default eluded me. It took over 2 years for them to officially default me BUT they did backdate the default

Great day in the January household. Just checked the online BC account which we've only been paying £1 per month to in protest at interest and charges. Numerous letters of complaint and threats of FOS involvement.

The've finally back dated and refunded all the late charges and interest charges - just under £900 refunded :j

Roll on the promised defaults on both BC accounts (although I am not holding my breath it will happen, they have said they will do this);)

    Hi Puzz,

Thanks for reply. Yes, I am going to FOS. I replied back to BC and told them that July was unacceptable and we wanted it sorted in 2 days ( that will make 7 days in total since I messaged them this time). The problem is simple for them to rectify, We were told...and have it in writing from last month, that they would catagorically NOT charge any more interest and our accounts would be moved forward to default which could take 7 months. So all they have to do is check the last messages and see where we were told that and remove the interest! The interest they are now charging is more than the amount we are paying, so debts will increase...how is that ever going to help?
But I suppose nothing is simple in DMP land.:(

Well done January..:) Looks like our luck with BC was short lived and they have gone back on their word. Out of interest, how long did you have to resort to £1 payments to get them to drop the interest?

It sounds Ploppy like BC are quoting the timescales set by the FCA on complaint handling and the deadline is 4th July?

The annoying thing is that the FOS will not intervene until you have a final response from BC. They always give time for the parties to negotiate a satisfactory outcome before they will get involved. Unfortunately I have been through this although not with BC. It's a waiting game although you may get your final response from BC before 4th July hopefully.
