Enjoy your holiday Puzz :T
Hope you are feeling a bit better about things now Timetosayenough
Quick question from me please - received BC statement today, second month of making token payments. It says on it card has now been cancelled and the statement came with an arrears notice on it. On the interest rate section it says estimated interest next month £0.00. Dare I hope they have frozen interest/charges? It says nothing else about it.
Thanks
Tx
Yes sounds promising, although like Puzz ive had lots of conflicting letters, the one that said estimated interest was usually correct.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Well six years after starting a DMP with Payplan and one year after it finishing, so a year of debt free living, I still like reading this thread. My first thread was the "without a paddle" thread, like this one that was very helpful and stress relieving, knowing I was not alone and then all the tips. I have read that SC and PP now seem to want to see paper proof of income and I wonder if it is because the creditors know we, shall we say "massage", the amounts a little to allow us a semblance of a normal life. This was, I'm sure, what made the five years bearable for me and allowed me to meet my financial commitments. I dug my heels in with Payplan after most of my creditors accepted F&Fs but Barclaycard would not, I refused to pay BC the money I was paying the ones that did accept. Guess they might not have allowed this now and I might have needed to go self managed. On the DF front, I was brave last weekend and decided to see if I could have a monthly mobile phone contract. No idea what I would have said if I had been turned down but that did not happen, I sailed through. So I am now in the tech age with an iPhone 6. How did I live without it? Good luck everyone, keep your chins up, but don't let them make the pips squeak, it is a long haul and you are paying it back. You are the good guys and not just walking away. :T:TPaddle No 21 :wave:0

But spiritually it's still 'onwards and upwards' Puzz!
Thinking about serious things like debts while you are on holiday in the sun is exactly the sort of thing I do too!!

Hola to all dmp'ers new and old...
I am on holiday, yep that's right I may be deep in debt but I am paying it back and I chose the gentle stroll route rather than the sprint!
Enjoy Puzz, don't tell anybody but we goto Spain in a fortnightMainly due to very generous friends but can't wait, not been away for 4 years. Have YNAB'd a little spending pot for it since last summer.
Anyway good news this week on the Default fronts. Mrs BB has had her default notice from Barclaycard, but they recently back dated a few months interest refund anyway.
Also my final interest charging tin pot card have also sent me a default notice today !! It was our smallest debt but bugging me none the less. £1 a month for a few months does work wonders you know. Stepchange take note!
So mission accomplished, all debts back to 0% interest, so we can now kick on and get this thing paid off !!

I've had to cancel her insurance because the renewal came through this week and monthly payments have gone up from £96 to £111!!!! I rang insurance company and they say they can't offer a cheaper option because of her age. Luckily we've got good vets and at the moment she's healthy but if I do need their services I'm sure we could come to an agreement. At least there's a sign in waiting room mentioning this. I think I'm going to have to look into getting her tablets online and getting prescription from vets. The only thing with that is if I have to take her to vets because of the cushings they charge £20 plus normal consultation fee. Am thinking if I could save £50 a month and put it away at least I'd have some sort of back up. Feel like I'm waffling, sorry. Just trying to think of best thing to do. She means the world to me. She was there when hubby collapsed and died and just seems we've been through a lot together.
We had a very poorly bunny who cost a fortune in painkillers. Our very kind vet gave us a repeat prescription that we could send to an online company (I think it was valid for 10 uses). Depending on what is needed you could save a small fortune. IIRC the vets charged £24 for a bottle that we could get for £6 online. I think they charged us a tenner for the prescription. I imagine you'd need to have a good relationship with the vet tho...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Morning everyone,
Just as things were moving along slowly but okay with our DMP our car is now giving up. We need it to get to work as public transport wouldn't get us there on time. The mechanic we have used for years has told us it would be like pouring money down the drain now.He did says he would continue repairing it, but advised us to look for another car. Car is over 16 years old so we need to replace it. Obviously credit is out of the window. It is still going but only a matter of time before it calls it quitsThen to add to things coming up the stairs last night the last but one step has given way, so hoping the local handy man can fix it, got to ringing him later see what he says
Not really sure what to do about the car, my manager has told me that in certain circumstances our employer will help if finances are tight, he said they can do a loan, which is totally interest free etc and deducted from wages on an agreed amount over a sustainable period, so going to speak to HR on Monday. If I do this will I just add it to our plan as expenditure, worried SC will not be happy nor my creditors.

Hi everyone
I'm 22 months into our DMP and things are chugging on ok, but.... Now I am potentially under threat of redundancy at work! I know there are definite jobs to go in my team - will know by sept/ oct, then consultation, then interviews etc, with people being out on notice by Xmas with a view to leaving put March!
I have already started looking elsewhere, had a couple of unSuccessful interviews. I earn more than my husband so have been looking at jobs similiR salary to what I am currently on. My question is should I look at jobs with smaller salaries and if so how would my creditors view it - as this would affect our step change payments? If I waited to see if I was of the unlucky ones who lost my job - I wouldn't get a big redundancy pay,net - approx 2months salary!
Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else?
Many thanks in advance0 -
Hi,
How long have you been in your current job ?
If its over 2 years, you are entitled to 1.5 weeks pay, per year, that you have worked there, basic, plus any enhancement the employer chooses to offer.
If it was me, the most important thing would be to have a job, yes it would be nice if I could match, or even better, my current salary, but that may not be possible.
I don't know your whereabouts, but I live in a rural, coastal location, and well paid jobs are like rocking horse poo, myself, I would take what I could get, things may be different for you, but that would be my philosophy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
