    Hi Puzz,

I just copied my final Stepchange review over the Nedcab templates exactly, so all the figures matched. Then setup standing orders for the payments.

If any get funny in the future I will simply email them a copy with a changed date ;)

PS. The companies charging me interest I sent them the breakdown showing them they should be getting xxx but because they were still charging interest they are now getting £5. This made me smile ALOT :D Certainly worked.

Thanks BB, I did similar using the sc budget and got it to match the nedcab one. Just to be clear did you then send the nedcab I & e exactly as it was which includes the list of creditors, outstanding balance, and amount being offered to each?

There's just one final question on the subject (I promise;))

If you can pay extra to one creditor at any time don't the others get a bit nasty about it? If we have to send them all regular updates of our creditors and the current debt balances they'll know who is getting preferential treatment.

When I mentioned to SC that I hoped to pay extra to my smallest creditor to wipe out my overdraft completely they just said that the other creditors 'won't like it'. Stupidly I didn't ask what they might do about it:o

I believe you are expected to pay the same each month, but doing it yourself means you can easily pay more to one if you want/can do to get rid quicker...

Glad everyone seems to be doing well, or as well as you can in a DMP :rotfl:

I am happy with SC at the minute, all creditors have frozen interest and looks like all will have defaulted by end of Feb if letters are anything to go by. So for now, I will stick as I am but still very interested to read about everyone's self managed experiences as it may be something I consider in the future.

Strangest feeling when you are 'happy' that you finally get a default from Barclaycard!

Oooooh I would love a default from Barclaycard!!! ;) How long have you been paying them on your DMP??

  • 2 letters received from BC today. They have accepted £1 token payment offer on both accounts for the next 12 months. They also confirm there will be no further interest or charges whilst token payments are made. This despite our I&E statement clearly showing we could afford to pay them far more but we refuse to do this whilst they charge interest on what we can afford to pay.

The frustrating thing is all the interest we have paid over the last year because being with SC they insisted all were creditors treated equally and paid BC 0.03% over their 1% bar on which they decide to charge interest.

Hey ho - lesson learnt...move on...as blisterblue says...we are calling the shots now ;) Self-managed is great

    Great news January :)

May seriously consider moving to self managed in the next 6 months - it looks like it's the way forward.

    Hi BDFSH

I have received a letter from them today saying they have applied a default to my account but i won't be able to check this for another few weeks to see if its true. We are paying less than the 1% and were on an informal payment plan so they are saying account is now closed and will be passed to their Recoveries Team or DCA,

Even though I expect these letters, they are still pretty scary!

I will let you know if the default does appear on my actual credit report.

    Hi CBC :)

    If you're self-managed they won't know about it (necessarily ;) )

When you're with DCA's they just won't care - they are looking for max ackers through the door and don't care what is happening elsewhere.

It's all part of the contradictions of modern life and the wacky world in which we live :D !!

Good Luck with your ppi claims and well done for going to SC, I assume your previous dmp was with a fee paying company...

    Puzz.x

Yes, I was paying £300 a month but it's now only £150. So I decided that changing would give a little bit more to the creditors. In my CCA letter, I haven't denied the debt, my idea here was to get step change to reduce the payment to tokens to them and increase to the others.

I have to say, though, I am very lucky as my husband pays household bills. I'm a carer for my mum so can't work much.

I have high hopes from my Britannia ppi, but I don't think I have any on anything else. My husband is going to give me the money to make F&F offers when he retires (if I get no where on the PPI's) so hopefully this will all be finished by the end of the year. I had my F&F letters all set up ready to send when he puts in for retirement!
  • All my creditors defaulted in 2011 when I set up the plan so should drop off March next year. I presume you can't default twice?
