SafeStyle sales lied to us, advice needed!

Hi All,
After my friend recomended SafeStyle and we did some research we decided to go with SafeStyle so called them and they sent the sales man (3 of them in 3 evening going through same talk, ...). We decided to go with them after the third visit however the sales man promised us that there won't be any hidden charges, etc. !
Yesterday their surveyor came to the house and gave us some papers to sign, one of which says that we're happy to pay extra for some extra work which is required! whilst leaving the house he said that they will call us from the office and probably we have to pay around £600 on top!!! we're not happy with this at all because the whole job is £5000 and we have already paid £95 for the survey.
During the survey he also broke the frame of 2 of our old windows (Wooden) to take the exact measurement.
Does anybody know how can we cancel the contract? Will we get our £95 back when we cancel?
Shall we ask them to come and repair the damaged windows?
Thanks
PS: Are the local windows maker as good as these national companies? I have a quote from a local company for the exact same price!

Hopefully you are still in the cooling off period. Send in a letter with proof of postage saying you wish to cancel.
Look at the paperwork but I doublt you'll get the £95 back if it was to pay for the survey that you have had done already.
Local companies can be better than the national ones, but they could be worse too. Look on websites like Yell for customer reviews.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
There is a 14 day cooling off period for sales that take place in your home. It should state that in their paperwork.
I don't think breaking archtirave etc is a particularly bad thing if it means getting the right dimensions. Especially if you have sought out a compnay and agreed to change them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Do you think we can get the £95 back when we cancel during the cooling off period?0

What does the contract say?
Something tells me you wont see it again.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
There's a small box about the 7 days cancellation right but no details!0

If it only costs you £95 to get rid of them it's well worth paying :jashland_83 wrote: »After my friend recomended SafeStyle and we did some research we decided to go with SafeStyle
What sort of research did you do, they are poorly regarded everywhere for good reason, in future I'd avoid any companies recommended by your 'friend'0 -

A small independent local company should be able to undercut Safestyle. This would be a one or two man independent company fitting windows. You will not be paying for sales people, nor commissions, nor office overheads, nor national advertising.
Equally there are local companies that operate in exactly the same way as Safestyle with the office, the overheads, the sales force, the commissions and the advertising. Hence they are not going to be cheaper than Safestyle.
If you are driven solely by price then it is possible that you will end up with a mediocre window and mediocre fitting.0 -
Hi, just to add, check you will get a FENSA certificate or you might have problems if you try and sell your property.
