What type of shower should I get?

At the minute I'm using the immersion heater and have one of those push-on rubber shower hoses on the bath taps. I've just moved house and really haven't a clue about what type of boiler it is. It's on oil as there's no gas here, it's outside, and has some sort of flue/chimney on top of it. The heating controls in the kitchen says 'Danfoss' and the water and heating buttons are separate.
I was thinking of getting the bath taps replaced with a mixer tap and the shower hose coming out of the middle. Would this be the best (cheapest to run) option?

If the pressure and flow at the tap is OK, then a mixer tap is probably cheapest and least disruptive. Make sure you get a mixer and shower head designed for low pressure and check it comes with a decent, wide bore hose so you get a good flow.0

Oh dear, maybe I'll have to get a plumber in then. The pressure seems fine (to me anyway!) so I thought the mixer taps just did away with the rubber connector hose I'm using now and would look better.0

What ever you do you will need someone to fit the tap, but what you are saying is correct - you can use a mixer tap fed off a conventional hot water system but because the hot water pressure is low you need to make sure you get the correct mixer tap - look for a low pressure, 0.1 bar type.
These systems have their limitations - you're not going to get power shower levels of flow, or match a high powered electric shower but it'll match what you've got at the moment and should be an improvement.
I've got a shower off a Victorian style bath mixer tap (telephone handle thing) fed from a conventional hot water system and it gives a perfectly useable shower.0
