Private eye - help please???

PLEASE PLEASE can somebody help with some advice. I received a parking fine at Tesco LAST YEAR from Parking Eye - they wanted £85.00 or £50.00 is paid immediately! I paid the £50.00 which I really could not afford but was adamant they were not getting the £85.00 from me. I received another find the very next day - no I didnt park there again it was just that I had parked there on 2 consecutive days previously and the second fine was for the 2nd visit. I spoke to a number of people including all of my colleagues and they had all received the same fines - and 2 as they had not known they had been done the first time and therefore parked the next day. Everybody told me NOT to pay and they were not going to pay. I had already paid the first one. NOW 1 year later I have today received a Legal Threatening letter telling me I now have to pay them £135.00 or they will take me to Court!! I feel sick at the thought!! ANY HELP PLEASE??

firstly, its Parking Eye, not private Eye (not Ian Hislop)
secondly, none of these were fines, they are and were invoices
thirdly, read the NEWBIES sticky thread, tells you all you need to know
also read the LBCCC fightback thread inside the CRABMAN sticky thread too
you need to be contesting them , especially if its an LBCCC or an MCOL
the sticky threads deal with both items
lastly, you should be complaining to those who engaged these p@rasites, ie: the landowner or retailer, and getting these invoices cancelled
also, give these "colleagues" a good telling off and insist that they pay your invoices due to their p*** poor legal advice0 -
Unless the letter is actually a court letter ignore it.
I'm betting it contains phrases like "We may take you to court..."?
The only letters you should take notice of are those titled "Letter Before Action" and those that come from the court itself.0 -
Unfortunately with PE ignoring isn't an option as they are extremely litigious and issue small claims on an industrial scale.
Were you shopping at Tesco? If so try to get a cancellation from them but it sounds like you were just using this free facility.
Read the NEWBIES thread here but prepare yourself by reading up on the PE court cases and downloading the Parking Prankster guide to defending these.
Have you admitted being the driver?REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
Thank you all very much and yes it is Parking Eye!! Sorry having a bad day upon receipt of this letter!! I haven't admitted being the driver as I have not responded to it yet.The letter is from Debt Recovery Plus Limited based in Dukinfield. The wording is if I don't pay the £135.00 they will recommend to the creditor that court action should be taken. I will do as you say and read the NEWBIES thread. Thank you again.0

as its DRP , ignore them
but try to get the landowner or tesco to cancel the invoice or invoices IF YOU CAN
DRP cannot do a thing, but PE issue over thirty thousand court claims a year, more than all the rest put together
bear in mind these demands can and will go on for 6 years
its an LBCCC from PE you need to watch out for, or an MCOL court claim from Northampton on behalf of PE (not DRP)
as its a debt collector letter, read post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread, and file it away along will all paperwork you have on this so far
dont forget, DRP cannot do anything, so panic over , for now
its only a P.O. BOX number in Dukinfield, just a mail drop0 -
Can the OP reset the clock as the driver hasn't been disclosed to get the OP back on the POPLA route?REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0

not if they are one and the same , no
but he could change the thread title to Parking Eye using advanced edit on post #10 -
Are you sure it's ParkingEye at a TESCO store? Not the usual combination!
Ok - Morrisons:ParkingEye; Aldi:ParkingEye; B&M Stores:ParkingEye. But it's normally TESCO:Highview. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

This must be Tescos on Woodfields Shopping Park - it is infested by PE.
