B & Q Valspar paint - Is it ok?

After many attempts to find a colour match, I think I have found one. The disadvantage is that it is B & Q Valspar paint which I have never used. I have just come across quite a few negative reviews online so would like to know if other MSE users have tried it. It is only for 1.5 walls in a small bathroom.

I found the white Matt to be an almost chalky finish

We bought it in order to get a Farrow and Ball colour match (think it was the trade version of Valspar though) and the decorators, who hadn't used it before, said it was good.
A friend of mine who does a lot of interiors also uses it and said it is fine.

In a craft/renovation group I am in they absolutely rave about the paint.

Valspar has been around years and is a brand in its own right, rather than being a B&Q 'own brand'. Though it looks as though B&Q are the sole importers (from the US) at present.

Yes I noticed that the negative reviews which I found were mostly from the USA.

I've used the Valspar to decorate our whole house. I found it to be very good.

I don't know if its because I have been unlucky and had 2 bad batches but I purchased 2 tubs of 2.5 litre premium Valspar, one was colour matched and the other was a standard colour they had.

I had prepped the walls correctly beforehand but both sets of paint went on really badly... I find it dries really really quickly and as you drag your roller back down it just lifts the paint straight off and you're left with horrible lumps that have to be sanded back down...

One coat definitely was not enough - more like 4.

I then gave up, went to a proper decorator centre and had it colour matched in crown trade paint and one 2 coats went on absolutely flawless.

will definitely not be using this again - really disappointed actually because I jumped on the upcycling bandwagon and bought lots of tester pots and found it went on great on furniture, just not for what its meant for - walls!

Bought the pre mixed tubs and hated it, but then bought some premium colour match, and it was great.

you get what you pay for...

I didn't see the last couple of comments until just now. I have now bought the paint. It is a personal colour match in Premium mid sheen.
