Reversed Right Arrow Key on Laptop

A bit of an odd one.

I've been working on a lengthy document in Word for the past few days, however, I noticed yesterday, that each time I attempted to move through my document using the arrow keys, the right right arrow moves to the left instead. This was happening repeatedly, and so after closing down my laptop for a while, and switching back on, it appeared to correct itself (but only for a short while).

Things appear to be OK for the time being (touch wood), but I wondered if anyone could offer any advice, as I may well have entered a shortcut code without realising, in error, and if so, is there a simple way to correct the problem if it should arise again.

Many thanks for any advice.

Found this googling, don't know if it will help ...

    Right-to-Left Switching

    • The most likely cause of arrow keys switching direction while you type is the right-to-left switching, or RTL, feature in your word-processing program. Not all languages print left to right, as English does; some languages, such as Hebrew or Arabic, are read from right to left. If you accidentally toggle the wrong switch, the arrow keys will work in different directions than you expect.
    Troubleshooting

    • How to turn off the RTL feature depends on the software package, but most programs have an icon in the toolbar that displays a paragraph mark with two vertical lines and a curled piece on top, and an arrow pointing to the right. Clicking on this button should revert the direction of the arrow keys back to their original left-to-right format. If you don't see such a button in the toolbar, searching for "right-to-left switching" in the software's help file should reveal the solution.

    Hi Oblivion,

Thanks for the advice. I can't seem to find an RTL icon, searching through the Help facility hasn't helped, as all the words print out in the correct direction, it's only the right arrow that is moving in the opposite direction, the left, up and down arrows are all perfectly fine. I will keep browsing for a solution.

    Thanks again for your advice.
