Adhesive

Options
We are renovating an old cast iron and wood bench. While trying to get the old wood off, one of the pieces that hold the bolts, that hold the wood, snapped off, right where the bolt goes. I'm wanting advise on the best adhesive for joining cast iron? There isn't much weight going to be put on this area, but it's needed to put the bolt in place. It's a clean break. Our idea is to repair it, and adhere a washer underneath to strengthen it. I've a few ideas, but I wondered if anyone has experience of joining metals with adhesives, and could advice the best.

Personally i'd use something industrial grade, the stuff you get in normal DIY shops will be expensive, low quantity and most likely only last a year or two.

It does weld but you have to be careful.

Any competent welder can do it.

IIRC 3 different types of cast, and each requires it's own matching rod, and rarely completely successful.
