Childcare Vouchers Management Fee
RQMS
Hi, My wife is self employed (No other employees just her) and wanted to sign up for chid care vouchers, we asked Sodexo who said she could enrol but there would be a monthly management fee of £17.50, does anyone know if there are cheaper providers? Thanks

Sodexo told my wife she could enrol as long as she paid her self a salary and PAYE0

If you're going to speak with Sodexo don't bother with the customer services as they are clueless ask to speak with a supervisor from the start0

From this site http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/childcare-vouchersIf you're self-employed as a sole trader, you're not eligible as you're not classed as an employer.
Although there seems to be some info around that says that the scheme will extend to self-employed in OctoberThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well we've set it up and receiving vouchers0

Who is your wife's employer? This is an employer supported scheme and even Sodexo's own pages say you can't use it. Be prepared for a bill once HMRC get the info

Presently the government doesn’t allow self-employed parents to take part in employer-supported childcare voucher schemes. This is because they do not pay tax under PAYE, so are not entitled to the savings on tax and NI contributions of childcare vouchers.
At Sodexo we are currently lobbying the government to allow childcare vouchers to be extended to self-employed parents. To find out more visit the news section. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Read the bit I quoted. This is the only scheme currently available at present. The new scheme does not come in until OctoberThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

When you do your tax at the end of the year and put those vouchers on your self-assessment then that is when things will come to lightThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
