Car Insurance for Carers

Hi, I just read how unemployed folk get ripped off on car insurance.
I am on ESA, but mainly a carer now for a housebound friend. I have told the JobCentre my situation and they leave me alone. But I was wondering how to describe my status on the next renewal, any advice.

You need to speak to the insurance company, Whilst off work sick i had to renew my insurance and queried on what to put for occupation.

They said if i was in receipt of any state benefits, job seeker or income support etc then i would need to put unemployed, but they didnt cover unemployed people.
I was on sick pay so didnt have any problem.

Check your policy - you may have to tell them now rather than at renewal.

I guess you could truthfully describe yourself as unemployed, a carer, or doing voluntary work. Why not try these (and any others you can think of) on a comparison site and see which is best?

This makes no sense, individuals can be in full time employment and be in receipt of benefits such as DLA/PiP. Are the millions in receipt of tax credits also included?

DLA/PIP is not income support or JSA, ESA or whatever they are called this week.

A CT discount was not an issue, just the non working type of benefits i think. I didnt go
into all the details because i was getting sick pay.
