How many times can a company put a default on your file?

Basically I've just checked my credit score using Noodle.
It is showing me that Vodafone have been putting a default on my file every month since 2010 for a £175 bill I knew nothing about.
Is this right? Are they allowed to do this? I thought the were only allowed to put 1 default on my account? I could be wrong but having 12 a year seems excessive for 1 bill.
Could someone please advise me as to what I can do about this?
TIA
Steve

If you have defaulted it's correct, once you default the account remains in default and reports every month until you satisfy the debt. The default stays on your files until the 6 year anniversary of the default date. It counts as 1 default despite repeat default history every month.0

D or 8 every month is a status history update, not new defaults. The original default, subsequent history, and account are still dropped from your report 6 years from the original date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks guys. I've not really needed credit, maybe I should say I haven't been refused anuything until last night when I applied for a credit card and it was refused.
My credit score is seriously low tho and this is the only negative on there.
So should I wait until February 2016 to see if it is all removed from my file?
I was worried that the monthly defaults meant that I would have to wait 6 years from the last default showing0 -
I think (am hoping) that the defaults stop on the 6 year anniversary from the initial default.
I got a dro from several creditors in 2010, yet 2 still default me every month. I have no idea why those 2 do and the rest don't, but I am hoping that next year it will end.
TBH though, given that the debt was discharged, and the other creditors do not default my credit rating, I do wonder if it is a mistake to keep listing as defaulted every month.0 -
The default, account, history, in fact all trace, is removed 6 years from the original default date no matter what.
A defaulted account under a DRO should be marked as 'satisfied' or 'partially satisfied', but will still come off 6 years from the original default even if it isn't.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi there sorry to jump on this thread..can anyone help? Were about to apply for a mortgage and whilst checking our credit my husband found a default from vodafone from July 2013 and we have no idea what this is. He rung vodafone who said that they have no account open in his name. No money is owed and no default on the system. He had a contract with them once upon a time but we think it closed in 2008. We have contacted credit expert who have filed a dispute with vodafone and are waiting for them to respond. We rung vodafone today to see whether they would be able to respond this week and was told that as there is no record of my husbands account they are unable to help us! He rung back several times and was passed from customer service to sales to the credit file team to payment and then back to customer services, all of them saying they couldnt help because he hasnt got an account.
We have an appointment for a mortgage in principle in 6 days and have found a house we want to buy. We need this sorted...and quickly! What should we do?
Regards
