was thinking of taking up the offer of paying road tax Monthly, currently £200+ per year due to car and we need the larger car for access issues. Any thoughts, it would work out about an extra pound a month.

any thoughts about what?
good way to spread the cost if things are a little tight, or you budget monthly etc
if you sell or want to sorn there's less money tied up whilst DVLA pull their finger out and process a refund etc.0 -
When I had my car, I paid the tax up front, and ever since put it away each month ready for next year. Seeing as the direct debit costs thatbiy more, I will continue to what I'm doing, money saving 😉0

Only pay yearly if you are reasonably certain you won't sell your car or need to buy a new car (due to mechanical failure etc) or you end up losing out big time.0 -
I'd pay monthly. It's not as bad as when it was 6 monthly.
If you write the car off during a month you just stop paying and nothing more is due. If you've prepaid the year you have to faff about to get a refund. You might miss the deadline maybe had an accident on the 29th and you're in hospital and you would lose another month of tax.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

How will you lose out big time? You get a refund of all unused months so still works out cheaper than paying 6 monthly or monthly.
MSE users should be paying in full and save money.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

No you don't- as any complete unused months tax are refunded exactly what you paid for them (unless you paid by credit card, when there is a surcharge). Any other way involves purchasing the months at above the rate that will be refundedI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I don't know about monthly but 6 monthly was aways dearer0 -
Monthly is close to 10% APR extra0

i started paying monthly might be slightly more but i dont have the 200 plus to shell outWhat goes around-comes around0

Paying monthly is 5% extra. It used to be 10% extra when you bought a six month licence.
I've gone to the monthly payment as I prefer to pay all my bills monthly, except for car and home insurance which I pay annually to get the best deals."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry.
