Boiler Installation Quote

Good morning all,

Just received the following quote for what seems a total replacement of my boiler and wanted to run by you to see if you thought it was a fair deal. Just moved into a house that has been vacant for around 6 years and the existing boiler is not a condensing one:

In response to your enquiry and our site visit, please see our quotation as follows.

• Drain down and disconnect existing boiler.
• Drain down, disconnect and remove existing cylinder.
• Drain down and disconnect tanks.
• Install new Worcester Bosch 25si Compact Combination Condensing boiler in same position in outside basement (client to decide actual position of boiler location).
• Install new horizontal flue.
• Install new Honeywell, programmable, remote time clock and thermostat.
• Re-run gas supply from meter to boiler.
• Re-connect hot and cold from existing supplies to new boiler position.
• Re-connect flow and return.
• Run new condense line.
• Install inhibitor.
• Check electrical supply to boiler (if electrician is requires, this will be an additional £145 + VAT).
• Flush (if required).
• Refill, run and test in accordance with Gas Safe Regulations.
• Remove debris from site.

Cost £2,995 Plus VAT

Existing radiators are in poor condition and completely inefficient; they should be upgraded in the near future – cost £985 + VAT

Hard to tell really. How far is the new gas run, hot and cold run pipework runs, where will condense and discharge terminate, what part of the country your in as that plays a very big part in labour rates.

If your radiators are in poor condition you should replace them at the same time, I'd also clarify what they mean by flush if required, your boiler warranty generally won't be valid unless they flush the system so you want to make sure it's included.

On the face of it, it's a good deal! Not overly expensive at all.

The Woscester Bosch will be a great boiler too. Not sure if 25si is enough for your house but your engineer will know.

How has this specification been arrived at? Have you been through a process of ensuring it meets your needs? Too many engineers have a favourite boiler and fit it for every job, leaving users disappointed.

A flush is definitely required for warranty - another few hundred if done properly and this may identify problems with radiators.

Also if possible get the condensate line to run inside the building and not outside.

    Thanks all.

They seem like a very reputable firm and have good reviews on checkatrade etc.

It's Surrey/Hampshire border and i will check what they mean by flush.
