Pointing cement from Block Paving

We've just had our whole house pointed and whilst the builder was really good at clearing up after himself, the inevitable happened and now have dried pointing on the block paving.

Some of it comes loose really easily and pushes off, but reluctant to power wash it due to loosening the sand between the block paving.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I would be using a club hammer and bolster chisel to carefully chip away. Anything left behind would be well wetted and then some careful application of Brick Acid. There are a number available but they must be used with great care - they dissolve mortar and your skin and eyes if you are not careful!

Pointing mortar is not usually very hard if it has not been worked. Don't get it wet to start with - use a bolster chisel in your hand to scrape it away gently. That should lift everything except residual cement stains. Then scrub it hard with a nylon brush and plenty of water.
