Just curious, but do you live in Basingstoke? Several houses in our road were without power for most of the day yesterday. They had two guys digging up the pavement to repair a burnt-out cable during the night.
I've never had to claim for lost food as a result of a power cut, but I would've thought that checking the terms of your contract with your power company would be a good place to start. They might offer to replace your food anyway, and you'd avoid a claim on your insurance.0 -

Just called direct line and we have a 1£50 excess so have decided not to bother!! just rung and complianed to the electric people though as they are useless!Just curious, but do you live in Basingstoke?
